THE "CLIQUES CHALLENGE"

Large organizations are the intercultural meeting points for groups from diverse and varied cultural populations made up of different languages, customs, humor, norms, festivals and more. The clique challenge refers to the phenomenon existing in these organizations, in which there is a tendency to group people in boxes according to the culture attributed to them. This phenomenon creates a gap between cultures and constitutes fertile ground for strengthening divisions in organizations on the basis of culture, reinforcing divisive stigma, creating distance in relationships and communications both within organizations and with customers from different populations and cultures.

Often, before the process begins, organizational decision makers ask themselves, "Why and how should we intervene in intercultural communication? After all it is possible to manage somehow without training..."

Two important things must be emphasized in this regard:

Firstly - A social organizational atmosphere is a leading component in all factors contributing to its success. Many studies have reinforced the conclusion that when investigating what is important to people operating in different environments - social atmosphere with regard to communications and relationships - comes out top!

Secondly - ignoring it, in the hope that the phenomenon will disappear, does not work. Gradually problems surface, leading to unnecessary obstacles that replace good and effective organizational flow.

Therefore, the organizational management challenge we address is to break down divisions and create organizational unity, cooperation and loyalty, so that the unifying factor will be the organization and its aims, and differences between people will become empowering and contribute to reinvigorating the organization.
